Special Educational Needs at Slimbridge

At Slimbridge Primary School, we believe that every child deserves an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. Our dedicated team is committed to providing support and assistance to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo), Miss Hannah Beale, plays a pivotal role in ensuring that children with SEND receive the appropriate provisions and interventions they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Miss Beale works alongside  teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to create individualised plans that address each child’s unique needs.

We understand that every child is unique, and that’s why we adopt a child-centered approach to support children with SEND. We provide a range of targeted interventions and strategies tailored to meet the specific needs of each child, fostering their personal development and academic progress. Our highly skilled and compassionate staff work closely with parents and outside professionals to create a collaborative network, ensuring a holistic approach to your child’s education.

At Slimbridge Primary School, we embrace the diverse abilities and strengths of all our students. We promote an inclusive ethos where all children, regardless of their individual challenges, can feel valued and empowered. Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff are trained to provide a differentiated curriculum and learning environment, enabling children with SEND to fully engage and succeed in their education.

We offer a range of resources and support services, including:

My Plans: These personalised plans outline specific learning goals and strategies to support children with SEND.

Small Group Interventions: We provide targeted interventions within small groups to address specific areas of need, such as literacy, numeracy, and social skills.

In-class Support: Our teaching teams provide in-class support, ensuring that children with SEND can fully participate in classroom activities.

Access to External Agencies: We have strong links with various external agencies and professionals who provide additional support and guidance when needed.

Parent Partnership: We believe that open and regular communication with parents is vital for the success of our children. We encourage parents to be actively involved in their child’s education, and we provide regular updates on progress and opportunities for discussion.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all our children. At the heart of our school is a firmly held belief that by working together, we can create the best possible learning experience for every child.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s specific needs, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to working with you to ensure the best outcomes for your child’s education and well-being.
